Summary of The Audiovisual, Part Three
In the Audiovisual, Part Three, of tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, Ted Koppel returns to Morrie’s house for the third, and last, time to interview Morrie about being so much close to death. Although very tired, and doubting his ability to do the show, Morrie answers questions from Ted Koppel with little enthusiasm. When asked, he says he is less fearful now than he was before of dieing. He is letting go of the outside more, and listening to music instead. He prefered to spend his last day watching the world go by. Morrie then speaks of Stephen Hawking, and how his life is admirable, as he fights his ALS, but is not what Morrie wants for his last days. Morrie says that the day he can no longer talk, it is the day Morrie is gone. When asked what he wanted to say the the many people whose lives he had touched, he said, “[b]e compassionate, and take responsibility for each other. If we only learned those lessons, this world would be so much better a place. Love each other or die.”
