Summary of The Audiovisual
The fourth chapter of tuesdays with Morrie, The Audiovisual, starts off with Morrie's fellow professor at Brandeis University sending Morrie’s teachings about life and death, such as many bite size philosophies, off to the Boston Globe reporter. The Boston Globe sends his story to a famous news reporter in Washington named Ted Koppel. “Next thing you knew, there were cameramen in Morrie’s living room” and Morrie describes his decision “to live-or at least try to live-the way I want, with dignity, with courage, with humor, with composure” to people all around the world through the camera. Albom describes how everyone, including Ted Koppel, was taken with what Morrie had to say. This chapter then describes how Mitch froze when he was flipping through the channels and saw his beloved college professor on TV. This chapter then leads us into a flashback of Mitch’s first day in Mr. Schwartz's room. How he had second thoughts about taking a class with so few people in it, and then, finally, Morrie's kindness toward him saying, “I hope that one day you will think of me as you friend.”
