Summary of The Sixth Tuesday, We talk about Emotions
Summary of the Sixth Tuesday
In the Sixth Tuesday, of tuesdays with Morrie, Morrie and Albom talk about emotions. As Morrie’s coughing attacks get worse and worse, they become more scary. Everytime Morrie sees a coughing attack coming, he tells himself to detach from the fear. Detaching from fear is essential to not being run by your emotions, describes Morrie. First, sais Morrie, you must embrace your feelings. Once you can recognise each feeling, you can learn to recognise it and then detach, not letting the emotion control you. Morrie describes his thought process, “All right, it’s just fear, I don’t have to let it control me. I see it for what it is.” Albom and Mitch then talk about reincarnation. Morrie says he would come back as a gazelle because they are fast and graceful., leading into the next chapter about losing your youth, which Morrie is doing, leading to many tangled emotions.
