Summary Of The Twelfth Tuesday, We Talk about Forgiveness
The Twelfth Tuesday, of tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, is about forgiveness. Morrie starts off by talking about how we should “[f]orgive yourself before you die. The forgive others,” as Albom massages his feet. The only thing that lack of forgiveness causes is regret, says Morrie. Morrie tells albom about a good, good friend he never forgave, and then, when he died of cancer, how he regrets so much. He tells Mitch to never wait to forgive, never hold back your forgiveness, not everyone gets a heads up before they die, like Morrie, to say goodbye, and to forgive. Morrie then tells Albom that, if he had another kid, “I would have liked it to be you.” Albom ends the chapter with a description of where Morrie says he wants to be buried, under a tree on a hill, overlooking a lake. When they discuss talking to one another after Morrie is gone, Morrie says that, if Albom comes to his grave, he will listen and Albom will talk, so even if there were things bothering him in life, he could ask Morrie how to do things like forgive.
