Plot Summary of Tuesdays with Morrie
The book Tuesdays with Morrie, by Mitch Albom, is a description of the journey of a dyeing man, as he embraces his slow and utter demise. Morrie Schwartz, one of the two main characters in the book, is diagnosed with A.L.S., or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, at age 76. Morrie, a former professor at Brandies University before diagnosed, wishes to teach others about death in his two or so more years of life. His main student, Mitch Albom himself, is past student of Morrie's. As Morrie's years pass, he is interviewed three times by Ted Koppel, host of Nightline, and continues to meat with Albom every Tuesday. Other days of the week, he converses with friends and family, as well as spend his days with his with wife, Charlotte. As time passes, Morrie can no longer can no longer climb steps, then walk, then lift his arms. His army of home helpers even has to help him urinate and wipe his bottom after going to the restroom. Things aren't all bad though. As Morrie gets closer to death, he learns to accept death, and he understands that only after you accept death, may you accept life. He teaches Albom everything he learns and understands on the meetings on Tuesdays. Albom begins to record Morrie's advise. As he does so, he begins to write the book, Tuesdays with Morrie
